Air-gap rituals that teams skip
Air-gap routines rarely fail in documentation first; they fail in the five minutes when someone decides a skipped step is “obviously fine.” The Cold Wallet Audit Board’s job is to make that decision visible.
Rituals that disappear first
Cable inventory. Teams reuse whatever USB cable is in the drawer. A board line asking “cable from sealed kit?” forces a pause.
Camera sweep. Laptop lids that “face away” still capture reflections. Witnesses should confirm a sweep, not assume it.
Transfer media wipe confirmation. SD cards and USBs get wiped “later.” Later becomes never unless the board lists a named owner and due sealed window.
Putting skips back on the board
